| The sixteenth-century castle at Evora Monte stands on fortifications going back to Roman times and occupies a spectacular position, atop a steep mound. Its Keep is constructed in Italian Renaissance style, with four robust round towers, and is adorned with a simple rope-like relief of manueline stonework. Within are three vaulted chambers, each displaying intricately carved granite capitals. | |||||
